Salvatore "Sal" Prainito was a young Italian-born associate in Howard “Buddy” Jacobson’s inner circle during the turbulent late-1970s New York racing and nightlife era. Standing about 5'7" with a stocky 180-pound build, hazel eyes, and a quiet but street-wise demeanor, Prainito operated on the fringes of Buddy’s world, where racetrack money, underworld connections, and personal loyalties often overlapped. In 1980, he became a central figure in the investigation surrounding the murder of Jack Tupper, allegedly accused of helping dispose of the body in the Bronx. After a sensational trial, Prainito was acquitted, while Jacobson was convicted, leaving lingering questions about Prainito’s true role and cementing his place as one of the more mysterious figures in the My Buddy from Brooklyn story.
