Horse Trainer Hirsch Jacobs
Hirsch Jacobs (1904–1970) was a prominent American Thoroughbred trainer known for his stocky build, reddish hair, and calm, deliberate manner. Born into a successful horse racing family in Brooklyn, New York, he entered the sport alongside his brothers Sid and Eugene Jacobs, who were also involved in racing. Jacobs built one of the most productive training careers in American racing history, setting a world record of 177 wins in 1936 and later training champions including Stymie. In 1933, he married Ethel Dushock, and together they raised three children: Patrice, John, and Tom. His daughter, Patrice Jacobs, later married Miami horse racing dynasty magnate Louis Wolfson, further linking the Jacobs family to another major racing legacy.
