David Jacobson, the son of horse trainer Buddy Jacobson, grew up immersed in the racing world and began training horses in 1976 at just 19 years old. Over the decades, he built a respected career as both an owner and trainer, amassing nearly 1,000 victories and more than $30 million in earnings. In 2013, Jacobson set a single-season record with 160 wins at New York Racing Association tracks including Saratoga, Belmont, and Aqueduct. Among the standout horses he trained are Grade 1 winner Strapping Groom and multiple graded stakes winner Salutos Amigos, while he also owned and trained graded stakes-placed runners Room for Me and Stallwalkin' Dude.
